Release & Embrace for 2014

Hey, everybody else was doing it!

Haha, but really. Neopagan Priestess did it, Siddaleah did it. Anyway. It's an easy but very good spread. If you haven't yet, I suggest you try it! I can't think of a time where this spread didn't make sense to me. For some reason this is one of my favorite spreads. I have found that most spreads that are more than four cards are too much for me. Simplicity is part of what makes this so great.

When I saw the Release card, Two of Swords, I was happy. I love being released from this fate! It's the dawdling and dithering I have been mentioning a lot lately. I decided to make this one a bit more encompassing, more of a theme for the whole year of 2014 rather than just this recent New Moon in Capricorn, even though that is a very good way to use this spread. However, I am not limiting my experience of 2014 to these archetypes and ideas.

So what am I leaving behind? Well, simply look at the key words for this card:

Stalemate
Impasse
Indecision
Denial
Avoidance
Barrier
Stubbornness

Good riddance, right?!!! Oy!

I love the key words for the Empress used in the Shadowscapes Tarot App:

Creativity
Generosity
Abundance
Embracing
Fertility
Patience
Mothering
Love

I like this energy of embracing the artist/mother within me, which is a huge part of my identity. To create and nurture. It is one of the cornerstones of my personality, and I think we are all creators of our lives and circumstances, as well as creative works.

Wishing you all abundance and creativity,
MM

  1. Great spread great cards! I think alsmost every woman can relate to the empress.
I've done this spread a few months now and I will keep doing it because it helps me a lot to focus on one particulary aspect each moon period

    1. Yep, it's a good one! Chloƫ introduced me to it a while back and I do enjoy it. I like simple spreads for sure.

Yes, most women and many men. I think everyone is creative! As a visual artist and a mother it definitely speaks to me, although sometimes I avoid those parts of me, even when I might like to delve into them

      Thanks for the good mojo.
      Have a happy January!

      XOXO,
      MM

  2. Wonderful spread! Who wouldn't want to release indecision and embrace creativity and abundance? Such a nice place to focus yourself. (btw, these cards are beautiful. They've been on my wishlist for a while.)

    1. They are very pretty--tons of work must have been put into these paintings. I think in the smaller format it's hard to appreciate all the wonderful detail, so I like to show them large when I feature them on my blog! I have the deck and the app on my phone. These are actually screen captures of the app, so pretty nice! XOXO!

  3. Those are gorgeous cards! Both artistically, and in the spread :D I rarely use this deck because, as you say, you miss so much detail in the small format. A friend gifted me a print of the World card, which hangs over my dining table - it's so beautiful! Anyhow, that is a fabulous reading for the New Year: let your creativity shine! :)

    1. Yes, I agree! It is nice to be able to see them larger abd really look at the detail. That's why I like using the app format. The print you have does sound lovely. Thank you for the good wishes!! I think I may be honing in on a key word...

      Xxoo
